Baby-Stepping My Way Into the World of Insulin Pump Therapy

So today, I take my first step into the world of Insulin Pump Therapy… I am attending an Insulin Pump Showcase at my nearest Diabetes Centre!

It’s kinda like a ‘Show & Tell’ I suppose, an informal opportunity to find out more by checking out the various Insulin Pumps that are available & listening to guest speakers talk about their experiences of using them. Being a bit of a gym bunny right now, I was particularly interested when my DSN (Diabetes Specialist Nurse) informed me that one of the possible guest speakers is a Fitness Fanatic & will be discussing how an insulin pump can be used with exercise & how it can help with better control during and after, which is what I currently struggle with, along with night time hypos.

If you’ve read my previous Blog post, you’ll know that I spent 2 decades struggling to deal with living with this condition. After a disastrous Hba1c result last year, I finally woke up to reality & have worked hard to gain control & bring it down to an acceptable level. I feel like Insulin Pump Therapy is going to be a new chapter in my story and I’m excited to find out what’s going to happen next. I’m looking forward to further improving my control & lead a long & healthy life. I need to, my little girl is relying on me to!

I’m looking forward to sharing this particular journey with you all! Will let you know how I get on!
